Best Public Courses, Private Courses…by New England Golf Monthly
Summary of last years 2012 results:
From 2012, the #1 Public Course was voted Newport National (RI). Newport National, designed by Arthur Hills, has been voted #1 Public Course for 4 consecutive years. The course is well known for its dramatic setting and location on the shores of beautiful Aquidneck Island and near Sakonnet River coastline. It is an incredible course that provides golfers with challenge, beauty, and experience.
For private courses in New England, Boston Golf Club (MA) was named #1 Private Course. Boston Golf Club, designed by Gil Hanse, visions an old fashion style and built for the most passionate golfers. The traditional experience is a true golfers paradise with comfortable and fun atmosphere for its members.
Another golf course that is amazing is Blue Rock Golf Course (MA). Blue Rock is one of the worlds finest par-3 courses and was named #1 Par-3 Course in 2012. The course is for all ages and abilities. It is ideal for the new golfers that want to learn the game, junior golfers that have desire to advance their skills, and for veteran golfers to use every club in their bag.
Last year, the resort that was named #1 Resort is Sunday River Resort. At Sunday River, visitors can experience many different activities such as, golfing, snow sports, mountain biking, scenic lift rides, and ziplines. Their golf club is what makes them award winning. The course has the finest mountain setting and the perfect balance between challenge and playability.
Another truly deserved award last year was to Harmon Golf & Fitness Club (MA). At Harmon Golf & Fitness they were voted #1 for the best practice facility. Their highly respected staff prides themselves on providing golfers with private lessons, club fitting, personal training/ golf conditioning, and clinics.
To finish, Dennis Sales from Rhode Island was named #1 Golf Instructors. He is one of the top up-and-coming golf instructors in the United States. Dennis has built a foundation for golfers by having the determination to overcome obstacles and be willing to relentlessly challenging.
